Technical Support provided by CERATIZIT
From Motorsport to Manufacturing: The Loaded Bikes Story
What began as a passion project rooted in motorsport has grown into a precision manufacturing success story.
For Loaded Bikes, the journey started with a simple idea: create beautifully engineered components inspired by a love of motorbikes and motorsport. With a background steeped in precision engineering, high-performance parts and clever design were second nature. Designing and manufacturing their own components felt like a natural next step.
That first step quickly gained momentum.
Initial designs became prototypes, prototypes became products, and before long, demand followed. What started as a small project evolved into full-scale production — a familiar path for many UK manufacturers turning ideas into reality.
Manufacturing in the UK: The Efficiency Challenge
Bringing a product to market in the UK presents clear challenges. High manufacturing costs, tight margins and global competition place constant pressure on productivity and efficiency.
For Loaded Bikes, the question was straightforward: how to manufacture high-quality components in the UK while building a sustainable, competitive business.
The answer lay in smart engineering decisions, optimised production strategies and, crucially, the right technical partnerships.
Optimising Production with CERATIZIT
A major turning point in the Loaded Bikes journey has been its close collaboration with CERATIZIT.
Working alongside CERATIZIT’s technical specialists, Loaded Bikes focused on maximising performance in its CNC machining operations. The emphasis was clear from the outset: reduce cycle times without compromising the quality standards customers expect.
Key productivity gains were achieved through:
* Smart fixturing solutions, including zero-point systems, to significantly reduce setup times
* Custom tooling designed by CERATIZIT to optimise machining strategies
* Extensive cutter trials to refine tool selection and reduce cycle times
* Optimised speeds and feeds across all operations
Together, these improvements allowed Loaded Bikes to maximise machine utilisation and push productivity to new levels.
Scaling Up with Confidence
Like many manufacturers, Loaded Bikes began with small production runs while processes were refined and validated. As demand increased, production scaled accordingly.
The business ultimately reached full production capability, running highly optimised setups on a Matsuura HP+ horizontal machining centre. With 15 pallets loaded and every vice holding multiple billets, the objective was clear: maximise output within a 24-hour production cycle.
Through careful planning of fixtures, tooling and machining strategies, machines could run efficiently around the clock — delivering consistent, high-quality parts at scale.
A True Technical Partnership
Throughout this growth, CERATIZIT has played a role far beyond that of a traditional tooling supplier.
The technical support provided by CERATIZIT — from tooling trials and process optimisation to ongoing application advice — has been instrumental in supporting Loaded Bikes’ expansion. Special recognition goes to Adam Cross, Sales Engineer, and the team at the CERATIZIT Technical Centre in Sheffield for their hands-on approach and commitment to long-term success.
Giving Something Back
Strong partnerships work both ways.
When CERATIZIT organised its Tour de Femmes ride in France, Loaded Bikes had the opportunity to give back by equipping several CERATIZIT demo vans with Loaded Bikes equipment — a small gesture of thanks for the support received over the years.
Looking Ahead
What began as a motorsport-inspired idea has evolved into a business built on precision manufacturing, efficient production and trusted partnerships.
With a strong foundation in place and a continued focus on innovation and optimisation, Loaded Bikes is well-positioned for the next stage of its journey.
And this is only the beginning.
